It’s okay to not be okay

When something terrible and unimaginable happens, such as a sudden death or accident, there is nothing we can really do to fix the situation. We might put on a happy face, act strong and avoid the situation. We may tell everyone  that we are doing “okay” and thank them for their concerns. But faced with unspeakable tragedy, it’s okay to not be okay.

It is important to allow yourself time to grieve. If anything, time heals all wounds. Unfortunately, you probably won’t feel 100% for a while, and that’s okay. Try to surround yourself with people who care about you, and you’ll have the best support.

You probably won’t want to think about the situation. Yet allowing yourself a certain amount of time to grieve and to think about the person connected to the tragedy will help you. “Crying-it-out” is a good way to get all of your emotions out at once.

Talk to a professional counselor and take the steps to be reaching happiness again. A counselor will be there to help you heal and grieve efficiently.

You are allowed to be hurt and to be sad. No one can tell you the right or wrong way to grieve.
