Five Foods for a Good Mood

22 Nov

We’ve all been in a slump. Typically, a bad diet goes hand-in-hand with the blues. So-called “comfort foods” can actually keep us in a rotten mood longer. I have pulled together five different foods that are proven to make you happy before the turkey comes out next week!

1. Eggs

Eggs are a great way to start your day in more ways than one. They energize you with omega-3, zinc, vitamin B and protein. Plus, eggs can be very helpful in dieting.

2. Honey

Honey does wonders for the brain by keeping it emotionally healthy. It contains kaempferol and quercetin, and both help prevent depression. This sweet treat can be used instead of sugar, which decreases the mood.

3. Cherry Tomatoes

Cherry tomatoes contain a special antioxidant called lycopene. It generally protects the brain and lungs. If you have allergies, these little guys can help you breathe easier. Cherry tomatoes are a win-win: healthy body, healthy mind!

4. Apples

You already know the saying… so I won’t say it again. But apples contain quercetin, which is also found in honey. Not only do apples help prevent depression, they also block substances that cause allergy symptoms.

5. Greek Yogurt

Greek Yogurt is packed with calcium and vitamin D. The probiotics within this diary treat can help boost your mood and your immune system.

It’s true I was a chocoholic and REALLY ate huge quantities of it daily! Now that I have stopped/cut WAY back, I do feel MUCH better! 🙂 Idk about the apples blocking allergens – lol- cause I am allergic to apples! (maybe it’s the pesticides on the apple…? I miss them, they were so yummy!
